Shortstown Heritage

Final centenary copy LT

Well Shortstown is certainly the place to be in 2017. There are many events planned already and other groups are coming forward with their own projects which makes for a very exciting year.so watch this page as it will need constantly updating as the year progresses.

Calendar of celebrations so far

Tuesday 24th January

Presentation of centenary mugs and history booklets to Shortstown Primary School pupils at Shortstown school. Shortstown Heritage were extremely fortunate to have secured a grant for £990 from the Harpur Trust in Bedford to purchase the mugs. Last year the Trust celebrated their 450th anniversary and small groups like ourselves were invited to apply for grants of up to £1,000 to fund community projects.

The mugs will be presented by Elizabeth Walker a great great niece of the Short brothers and the booklets by Stephen McGlennan from the Airlander team.

This is happening very soon and we are all very excited. After the school visit representatives from Bellway will show Elizabeth the hallway of The Short Building built by her grear great uncles. This will be followed by a tour of Shed no 1 led by the Airlander team.
